Slip rings can be designed to be installed in a variety of ways to for best fit and ease of installation onto the main rotating unit. Slip rings with integral bearings operating on a axis having a separate or main bearing require a small margin of mechanical float to avoid binding between the bearings in the event of the slightest amount of axial misalignment.
